[How to] Stop YouTube from Playing Videos Automatically in Chrome & Firefox

Because of YouTube’s default settings, it will start playing the video whenever you open the URL where that video is located. If you’re on an internet plan with limited data consumption, this feature of YouTube can increase your monthly internet expense. Anyways, there’s an easy fix for this.

For those who use Mozilla’s Firefox

You just need to install Tube Stop Plugin, which does precisely what we want.

Now when you would open URL of video hosted on YouTube, you would see “Click to play, courtesy of Tube Stop” message. If you want to play the video, click anywhere on the video and it will start playing.

For guys using Google’s Chrome web browser

In order to fix this issue in Google Chrome, you would have to switch some of its settings.
