The traditional way to convert your Broadband Internet Connection into Wi-Fi is with the help of a router but there is a way using which you can convert your Windows Laptop that has Wi-Fi adapter into a Wi-Fi hotspot and it is Free!
A physical router costs about Rs. 2,500/- and it is beneficial over this technique because it lets you access internet on a wired desktop as well on any other wireless device. If your desktop computer has a Wi-Fi adapter then there is nothing better than that because then you won’t have to pay for the router.
Tutorial to convert Broadband Connection to Wi-Fi
1) Go to Connectify.me website and download the free software.
Connectify is the software which would accomplish this task. The software comes in two variants, one Free and the other paid that costs $29.99 and comes with additional features like Firewall, encrypted data, extra security etc.
2) Install the software by clicking on the Installer Package, it would install like a regular software. Once the software has done its installation, it would ask you to restart your system, do that.
3) Once you system is up again, use the shortcut on your desktop to run the Connectify tool. It would run in your system tray and would be started along with your system always.
Most of the settings are configured, you just need to set up a password for your Wireless Network and choose the internet connection, since we are converting Broadband Connection to Wi-Fi, choose “Local Area Connection” in the Internet Section.
That’s it, now click on the “Start Hotspot” Tab, it would take about 30s for the Wi-Fi hotspot to start running.
You can also see which clients are currently connected to your network. Make your password stronger in case you see an intrusion.
The quality of internet offered by this software is very nice, I was able to use internet on ground floor, whereas my Laptop was on the first floor.

this feature does not work on my laptop. does it have anything to do with the fact im using it on a lenovo atom notebook. ? please help
The software does consume a lot of RAM, I use this tool on my ultra portable laptop and it works fine. Does the software hang or stop responding?
