Trend Micro rates BlackBerry 7 OS as the Most Secure Mobile Operating System

Trend Micro, in a report titled – “Enterprise Readiness of Consumer Mobile Platforms” rated RIM’s BlackBerry 7 OS as the most secure Smartphone operating system; BlackBerry 7 OS snatched the top spot with 2.89 point rating. Trend Micro did this research with Top 4 mobile phone operating systems viz. BlackBerry 7 OS, Android v2.3 Gingerbread, Windows Phone 7.5 Mango OS and iOS 5 to know which Smartphone operating system was best suited for enterprise users.

All these operating systems were rated after enduring tests on a number of fronts including application security, in-built security, authentication, device wipe, virtualization and device firewall. BlackBerry 7 OS topped the chart followed by Apple’s iOS 5 with 1.7 point rating. Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7.5 Mango OS was ranked third with 1.61 point rating while Google’s Android 2.3 operating system came last with 1.37 point rating. Android was the only operating system that received negative comments from Researchers of Trend Micro; it’s not good enough to handle demands of enterprise users.
