Taking some inspiration from the success of Amazon Kindle Fire – the $200 Android tablet; Samsung announced Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 – the next generation 7-inch Galaxy Tabs. The new tablet would be priced $250 and would feature the same specs as Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. It would have a dual-core processor inside, but this time it won’t be a Tegra 2 but TI OMAP 4430. Also, it would run the latest version of Android operating system i.e. Ice Cream Sandwich.
Samsung also announced a larger 10.1 version which would look exactly like Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 but with a larger display screen and a $400 price tag. In addition to tablets, Samsung also unveiled the next generation of its Android-based portable media player i.e. Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 which is a phone-less replica of Samsung Galaxy S; it features a 1 GHz single-core processor, 4.2 inch display and Android v2.3 Gingerbread operating system.
Samsung plans to release Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 in US on April 22 while you’d have to wait for May 13 to see a glimpse of the new Galaxy player on shelves.
