The Puffin Quiz 2010 – An Adventure to the world of books

The Puffin Quiz 2010 : Delhi Edition

First of all, to start… i would like to apologize because this is possibly the first post on GizJets’s inventory that is 99% not related to technology or gadgets or even science to begin with.

Why are you posting it then? Wait! Wait! don’t pound questions like this… okay it is a little connected, just the prizes thing and their sponsors flipkart.com

Okay, So… winners got an HP Mini Laptop each and runners up received Xbox Live Gaming Console… will that do or do i have to add some more connection to this post thus making it… a “techno-friendly” post.

We do have another connection with books… i mean the technology people… i.e. the books written by famous IT people like Being Digital ~ Nicholas Negroponte, the man behind the idea of One Laptop per Child.

So… I think yes, in some way or the other IT is incomplete without books.

Sharing my experience @ The Puffin Quiz 2010 : Delhi Edition

It was a great feeling to be at such a place because of two reasons 1) After reading the book “five-point someone” i am quite intrigued with books and now treat it as a author’s world class experiences binded in paper and 2) the host of the The Puffin Quiz 2010 was none other than the quizmaster… * drumroll * Derek O` Brien.

If you were thinking it to be PickBrain, the post on Nov 27 would have his name as quizmaster because that’s the day when the final showdown of my year-long preparations for TCS IT Wiz 2010 takes shape.

Okay… so… coming back to the The Puffin Quiz 2010 experience… Question were pretty basic… not too tough quite easy. Prelims were pretty easy as compared to EXUN @ DPS RK Puram.

The On-Stage rounds had many faults, first of the rounds had pretty easy questions, the round-titles were amateur. I received a book-set from flipkart.com for doing nothing. Okay, stomping stage could be reason :)

Experience with the Quizmaster Derek O` Brien

I don’t know… why? but i didn’t had any feeling of being special or standing with someone special when i was standing right to Derek O` Brien, though he is a very well known personality but… I feel me to be of same power.

or potential at the moment. :)

So… the quiz went of good, i dot a DVD of Rang De Basanti and book-set containing books related to India.

I hope me (Rakesh Narang) and my team-mate Kunj Gupta win the Delhi-Edition of TCS IT Wizard 2010 that will take place in IIT-Delhi on Novemeber 27.

And this time we are not in a mood to settle with the second spot… thus i repeat this line in my mind almost every second.

“You never… never win a silver… You always LOSE the Gold.”

Yes they were very simple, someone who loves reading and has been in conversation with other like-minded people for sometime could have answered these easily.

The first round was simply PATHETIC. I would never like to see such a round again in my life… :| Neva
