As a part of LG’s donation program, they have decided to donate 2,000 pieces of their new flip phone – LG LU2700Ss. This flip phone is not your ordinary cell phone; it has been specially designed and modified by LG such that it can be used by people who are visually challenged. Instead of using buttons for navigation, receive and end call, this cell phone for the blind basically runs on voice commands; but unlike Smartphones that we have today, visually impaired guys would have to learn this phone’s vocab in order to interact with it. This phone also comes with a user manual printed in Braille; on the whole it doesn’t have many features but it does what it is expected to do, properly. I hope other companies could also bring, or fund such projects for the greater common good.
