There is a good news guys, the $35 Tablet PC is slated to launch on 5th of October, 2011 and it would be available for everyone Indian citizen. Have a look at my recently blogged post about Sakshat’s release date.
Kapil Sibal, HRD minister of India revealed that they would be releasing a dirt cheap laptop exclusively for Indian Students. People this is revolution, a laptop or notebook to cost this low is unthinkable.
This Windows-based Tablet PC costs nearly Rs. 1,500 ($35) whereas no netbook is available under Rs. 14,999. I am talking about Android Phi from Infibeam.com here.
Kapil Sibal also said that the price might be reduced to Rs. 500 per piece and over than Shipping would be charge.
Great idea! I must say, it is first technical step taken by Indian Education Ministry to curb mundane education system.
Talking about the gadget, it is basic in design, has a touchscreen, maybe of low quality just. It can work over any Wi-Fi spot and give fast Internet access.
According to reports, The Windows-based Tablet PC launched by Kapil Sibal would sport online tutorials and lectures from India’s top teachers and institutes free of cost.
The device is made by several engineers from IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) and IISc (Indian Institute of Science).
YouTube and other Video sharing website could be watched on the device since it has 2GB RAM. The only input method is on-screen QWERTY keyboard, other than that you can connect mouse or other devices via USB slot 2.0
What do you guys think, will it be any use in present Indian education system. Well, i think it will definitely make more students interested in learning process.
