Facebook too concerned over Security/Privacy Issues
There must be a lot of things going on Mark’s and other Facebook owners’ minds, after all running a 500 million people network isn’t a piece of cake. After a lot of criticism posed by world’s most dignified analysts Facebook must be feeling a little insecure which have propelled them to launch privacy updates one after the other.
But why is Facebook so damn insecure? Why is Facebook targeted and not other social networks like twitter or LinkedIn? Which has most of the sensitive corporate data? These question were bugging me after I read Facebook’s new step towards user-privacy i.e. Groups.
More on Facebook Groups
There were groups before as well when all the “privacy” related incidents took place and they will continue to take place even if Facebook takes away several privileges from users seeking into others’ profiles.
Maybe it’s time to give all the rights to the user whether to log on to Facebook, add stupid friends and then become their prey.
Instead of launching a much more highly advanced security system or rather “privacy” system, Facebook team should spend their funds on generating new features or contests or something that’d make its users glued to the social network, well that would certainly raise their revenue and provide advertisers a better deal.
Security Guidelines for Application Developers
One thing should be made compulsory for all the application developers because during my experience with Facebook, I found out that most of the shady application got access to private data and had nothing inside the app, which seemed to be quite fishy to me.
I think those apps are built to steal email addresses and other information which could be used for spamming or maybe something more serious.
My advice to all the readers is that they should first of all trust applications from only authenticated publishers.
Here is a tip! Especially for young kids or parents of young kids, since there are lot of social games like Farmville, go to their fan page, search it, check the developer and if they are a well formed company then go for their services.
Facebook to me is a wonderful service and whatever their owners to decrease profile steal cases, the human (user) error would always be the first culprit.
Facebook is really something that can ruin you if you don’t take precautions, what precautions do you take in order to keep safe on the social network. Do share your feeling with a growing number of GizJets Readers… at the moments we have 700 Readers/day so… your comments makes a difference.
