Samsung which is expanding it’s market in the genre of Smartphones have launched their apt bet in the growing multimedia smartphone industry. The Samsung Galaxy S – “Future Beyond technology” is a feature rich quality handset.
The configuration of the gadget is somewhat similar to that of Apple iPhone 4 but since it runs on Android OS 2.2 (Froyo) it becomes a dream come true for any business personnel.
What i really liked about the mobile phone was that it seemed nowhere like a mobile phone, the first look suggested it to be a tablet pc, small but highly enriched one.
The size and design reminded me of Apple iPod Touch but this one is a little bigger. The visual screen is a Super-Amoled capacitive Touchscreen and not a resistive one, read what is the different between the two types of touchscreen.
Coming to the core facts, it is a mixed bag full of pros and minimal cons, i mean when a person is shelling out
31,000 (Prizes may vary, see eBay for live example).
Pros of Samsung Galaxy S
It has full internet connectivity via GPRS, EDGE, 3G, HSDPA 7.2 mbps and HSUPA 2.8 mbps therefore browsing internet and sharing your documents online is quick and error free.
A 4″ 16 million colors supporting (480×800 pixel) resolution Super-AMOLED touchscreen gives bright and undisturbed images. One can play DivX, MP4 and Xvid formats on the device thus making Samsung Galaxy S Smartphone a true rockstar. The touchscreen is capacitive like in Samsung Monte S5620 but is much more sensitive.
Along with being agile in operation with a 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor it operates on Android 2.2 which gives one access to nearly 1 million application designed and customized for the screen resolution.
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and Apple iPhone 4 are two of it competitors but Samsung with Wave and Galaxy might give these gadgets a run for their money.
What you need to know before buying a smartphone? First of all clear your preferences, what do you want! if you want a full QWERTY don’t go for a touchscreen and if you really like tapping the display screen then go for a capacitive one, at least your fingers would be spared then.
Anyways, make sure it has a good PDF and Document reader, else you’d have to pay for extension software.
Update (31-07-2010) – Samsung Galaxy S Smartphone is also known as Samsung Captivate and it is available for just $99 with AT&T Data Carrier plan.
Recent Price of Samsung Galaxy S i9000 ~ Rs. 27,700
