Review of LG Optimus Mobile Phone
The LG Optimus is an inexpensive Android operated mobile phone that you can find in the market. Its cost is price under Rs. 15,000 and has some good features. Since the smartphone world is getting too competitive and almost every mobile phone manufacturer placing their bets in Android Market, this phone could be a winner for LG.
It is undoubtedly one of the cheaper phones in the Droid segment but don’t take it that lightly as it can perform and I loved the way LG has tried to manage its interface.

Reviewing the Hardware that powers LG Optimus
The smartphone runs on the primitive version of Android v1.6 (cupcake) upgradable to version 2.1, it does have a vibrant touchscreen display but doesn’t quite match the price point. The resistive touchscreen display is fast but not anywhere near the experience you can get in a Samsung Wave that costs just a few thousand rupees more.
It has a mighty (320×480) resolution, Wi-Fi, GPS and 3 Mega-Pixel Camera but without a Flash. 1500mAh battery powers it. It costs somewhere around Rs. 13000 ($292). It has a processor of 600MHz to support multitasking. It has a 3.5mm audio jack for extension.
Reviewing Software that gives life to LG Optimus
The software as told above is Android, the user-interface is quite good, the resistive screen is responsive and the processor makes things load fast and working with it is fun.
Other than basic features of a mobile phone, it offers premium multimedia option as it supports high quality video formats like DivX and Xvid. The social media integration in the device has made it your best companion when travelling or working etc.
After upgrading the LG Optimus to v2.1 the phone supports almost all the cool application available at Android Market. It has a socialized Phonebook which means you can add your friends twitter and facebook account in profile and send updates without opening social network.
Reviewing the Texting Features on LG Optimus
We all are quite addicted to text on mobile phone and for that LG Optimus is an Optimal choice, it comes with a on-screen QWERTY keypad that has pretty OK performance, the phone does allow you to install Swype from Android Market but still if you want to use the default keypad, it won’t attract much.
The Music and Video Player – USP of LG Optimus
If you wanted to have one of the coolest entertainment phone that costs nearly Rs. 15000 go for LG, yes there is Nokia X6 but this one has everything.
The application like dedicated video and audio player is something that compels me to give this phone a thumbs up and worth purchasing. The music library of phone has many instilling features; you can sort it by albums. Sound is very good on headphones from Skull Candy (not included in the package).
The video player support DivX and Xvid video in largest resolution and full quality.
Camera: The Only Disappointment in Optimus
The Phone camera is a disappointment, the 3 MP cameras has no flash and captures below average pictures. If you can tolerate its good for nothing camera you are probably a no-camera guy.
Connectivity
It has great connectivity options like Bluetooth v2.1, Wi-Fi and PC connectivity for quick file transfers. This one is coming up as an exception of LG’s reputation in smartphones because Android has something that is incomparable to anything except for iOS4.
Browse the world without Flash
Though it is not very popular in India but Flash is something that is supported by almost every other mobile phone today.
The LG Optimus, budget Android Phone has no sign of supporting flash, its alternative HTC Wildfire does and makes the User experience much more convenient.
If you love surfing the web from phone, it provides a good browsing experience. A thing that surprised me the most was support of YouTube videos in the device, though it doesn’t support flash but somehow it plays YouTube video very well.
Carry the Office Around with You
LG Optimus has a fully capable Office Document Viewer and PDF file viewer, read books and edit your documents on the go, it supports push mail so you can send the attachments in a second.
Android Market makes it all so interesting
Android market really opens up the width and potential of the OS in front of you, hundreds of free applications are waiting for you to grab. If you like games – there are high quality paid and free games, if you like music – download the most popular for cheap price. If you are a fan of super-cool useful application – then there is the app manager.
You name it and Google will fill your phone with whatever you want.
The Verdict – GizJets Concluding the Review of LG Optimus
Though LG Optimus misses some very kewl aspects of smartphone like good camera with flash etc. still it has a lot to offer.
I won’t recommend it if you are a fussy user because in India LG’s service is very poor, at least worse than Sony Ericsson.
Other than that you can considered these options Samsung Galaxy 3, HTC Wildfire and Nokia X6 8GB – all run on good operating system and made for your entertainment purpose.
My favorite among above is Samsung Galaxy 3, it is cheap somewhere around Rs. 12000 but has android.
