Like Samsung Galaxy Grand can be called a toned down version of Samsung Galaxy Note II, there’s a New Samsung Smartphone that has been leaked, which can easily be referred to as a toned down Galaxy S III. The Smartphone, to be sold under model number GT-I8262D, has mid-level hardware and software specs and would most probably be limited to Chinese markets.
This is not the first time we have heard about a New Samsung Smartphone under this model number. There were some rumours that appeared on the internet last month that talked about a mid-range Smartphone. Now, because of this recent announcement, we know a lot more than the model number of this New Samsung Smartphone.
New Samsung Smartphone GT-I8262D: Tech Specs
The phone is now listed on Samsung’s official website and its technical specifications includes: a 4.3-inch touchscreen display that sports a display resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm MSM8225 Snapdragon processor, an Adreno 203 GPU for graphics rendering, 768 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage (expandable up to 32 GB using a microSD card).
Other than that, the New Samsung Smartphone features: a 5-megapixel rear shooter, 1,700 mAh battery and support for dual-SIM. As for the software, it will run on Android v4.1 JellyBean. This won’t be stock ROM but Samsung’s custom ROM with TouchWiz UI. It would be identical to what you’d find on Samsung Galaxy S III.
It’s strange that Android v4.2 JellyBean has been out for so many months and Samsung hasn’t released an update based on that ROM for its Galaxy lineup. Maybe, Samsung’s waiting for Google to release v5.0 of Android i.e. Key Lime Pie with slightly more notable features and “name”.
As of now, we don’t know the exact release date, or pricing, or even the name of this New Samsung Smartphone, and thus we’d have to refer to it as GT-I8262D. Initial photos of this phone clearly states that its design has also been inspired from Samsung’s 2012 Android line-up. If Samsung decides to release this phone globally, sometimes in the future, we’ll keep you updated.
