Several Indian companies have started to believe that “tablets for education” is a Gold Mine because there couldn’t any other explanation for cheap “education oriented” Android tablets that are popping up in Indian markets every single day. This time around Kobian has brought a cheap, sub-Rs. 5,000 tablet to the table that is intended to assist students.
This new tablet weighs 500 grams, runs Android v2.3 Gingerbread, has a 1 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM, 4 gigs of internal memory, and a 0.3-megapixel front cam. Kobian would also be offering several additional accessories with this tablet including a case that would convert iXA Tab into a mini Netbook.
The device would be up for pre-order in India from 23rd of May at a price point of Rs. 3,999. I have no doubt that this tablet is some Chinese/Korean/Taiwanese product that has been re-branded as Mercury iXA Tab.
