The Question – “How megapixel alter image quality?” puzzled me!

The thing about camera megapixel is quite confusing, the first thing we judge in any product is the brand and same goes with a digital camera.

Sony, Canon and Nikon lead the brands most loved in the field of Camera lenses and devices. The second thing which a layman seeks before purchasing a new digicam is undoubtedly camera megapixel.

I am unsure whether it is second or the third priority but whatever it may be – today through this blog post — the myth about camera megapixel would be revealed to all those who know little about these technical things.

What is a megapixel?

Let’s start with basics.

Pixel is the tiniest part of graphical display. Your computer screen is made up of many pixels. A camera megapixel is a bigger unit — a collection of pixels.

How it affects Camera Quality?

It has literally “no” effect on camera quality — seriously a 12MP Camera may not be better than a 8MP if the latter one used a better lens.

So what does camera megapixel affect? – They enhance the picture size, you can get big resolution pictures with a camera of higher camera megapixel.

One can easily get confused in the market, scrambling through the megapixels and buy a poor quality device.

How to choose a good camera?

Well, first of all try and pick up a digital camera that has good flash light, in low light areas a powerful “Xenon” flash would be far far better than a usual LED flash.

Point no.  2 – Go for brand, Sony gives Smile Detection, Geo Tagging and various other HQ features along with it’s digicam. These will make the use easy.

Point 3 – Zoom capability, lens quality is determined by various factors and zoom in, zoom out function is one of them. Make sure you digicam has at least 4x digital and 3x optical zoom.

and lastly, camera megapixel – a 8MP camera would be great and would save you memory as well.
