Archos 70 Tech Specs, Features and something extra!
2011 is the “Year of the Tablet” because it is estimated that Tablet PCs are going to rule the market like 2010.
The sales of Tablet Computers is expected to grow from 11 million to 54 million which means if you want to buy a portable computer, a new Tablet PC definitely a good option.
Today, I am not here to discuss the pros and cons of Tablet PCs in generic but to share with you a new budget Tablet PC i.e. Archos 70.
There are several Android Tablet PCs in market at the moment like Samsung Galaxy Tab and Motorola Xoom which are priced more than $700.
But, if you want something that can do your basic computing and doesn’t cost heavy on pricing then Archos 70 is a good option. It runs on Android OS and supports almost everything that Samsung Galaxy Tab does.
The Good about Archos 70 Tablet PC
- Low Price: $275 for 8GB model and $325 for 250GB Model
- Android OS: Runs on an outdated yet pretty good Android OS 2.2 (Froyo)
- 7” Widescreen display, light and mobile body design
- Plays Good Quality Videos at 720p resolution
- Pretty Responsive Touchscreen – One of the best in this price bracket
- VGA Cam in Front for video calling and Google Chat
- microSD card slot in the sidebar to expand Archos 70’s Memory up to 16GB
- HDMI Port
The Bad about Archos 70 Tablet PC
- Pretty fragile construction, simple plastic body
- Runs on Android 2.2 while Android 3.0 has been launched in market especially for Tablet PCs
- No Support for Google Apps like Gmail, Google Maps, Google Navigation and even Google Android Market
- Has Personalized App Store with Apps derived from Android Market but the count is not too high
- Has a Backstand for watching videos with keeping it in hands but the stand isn’t of very good quality
The Verdict Based on “Preview”
Archos 70 is just a basic, entry-level Android Tablet PC. If you can work well with fragile gadgets and can compromise on some features then Archos 70 is not a bad option.
