Now, If you are ready to buy a new phone, some thoughts must be in your head about the Operating System, which one to pick and which one to drop, now hear this, although Android is certainly the most popular let’s find out if it can hold the same domination in the Gaming sector.

Okay, So… Today you are going to see a full fledged comparison on the Gaming front between operating system of biggest rivals in IT sector – Google and Microsoft. Yeah! I am talking about Windows Phone 7 and Android OS.

Few Features of Android and Windows Phone 7

Some Facts about Android OS

  • Open Source for development
  • Integrated Google Products including Google Search, Google Maps and Google Mail etc.
  • Native Web Browser (Dolphin) that utilizes HTML 5
  • Supports Bluetooth 3.0
  • Swype Browser for easy typing and much more…

Some Interesting Facts about Windows Phone 7

  • Sleek and touch friendly interface
  • Social hubs and anything and everything
  • Highly integrated options for social networking
  • Zune Player to get the perfect music player for your phone
  • Xbox Live for Windows 7 making it every gamer’s lure
  • Effective control over hardware

As you would have guessed by now that they have really neck to neck competition when it comes to overall performance but here we would focus on what? Yes, which mobile phone operating system is best for gaming. And our two contenders are Android and WP7… iOS4 would have to wait.

Now let’s begin the comparison.

Quality of Games on Windows Phone 7 and Android

Android OS is undoubtedly the most popular browser in United States but hey here it doesn’t seem very cool… you know why because its game section is a little out-of-order. When I searched its inventory of games I could come up with just these 5 games which seemed really something that could represent it as good for gaming.

  • Pool Break Pro
  • Asphalt HD
  • Raging Thunder 2
  • PBA bowling 2
  • Fruit Ninja

Nothing else was looking promising and something that could really become bestseller. Although, in the free section it has Angry Birds which is already a bestseller.

And when I reach games inventory for Windows Phone 7 – I had no words.

Fantastic Games awaited me, there were titles that we normally see on Gaming consoles like PlayStation or Xbox. I really don’t know what to say because Microsoft says for itself… (I am the best). These are the games…

  • Halo WayPoint
  • Assassin’s Creed HD
  • Glyder Adventure Worlds
  • Guitar Hero 5
  • Need For Speed Undercover

After Microsoft Xbox Kinect: Controller Free Gaming Addon this is a great step from Gaming Division in Microsoft. Without a doubt… Windows Phone 7 leads by 1.

Game Costs and Availability of Video Games on WP7 and Android

Okay, I have talked enough about the gaming experience etc. but let’s just consider the price that you pay to game on Android or WP7. Although Windows Phone 7 has a bevy of high-quality games, all of them are paid whereas on Android there are nearly 50 games available for free which can be enjoyed without paying a single additional cent.

So… if you are really interested in buying a phone to play video games on… go for Windows Phone 7 but if you don’t want to keep on spending money on small screen gaming, choose Android… it even has Angry Birds game available for free.

Unfortunately for Windows Phone 7, it is now leveled with Android at a score 1-1.

Cost of Mobile Phone operating on Windows Phone 7 and Android

Okay, now here comes the ace in favor of Android. Majority of people cannot buy phones operating on WP7 because it’s hardware requirements are quite and therefore brands releasing these phones have to add suitable hardware which shots up phone costs to as high as Rs. 30000 ($600).

Most of gamers would prefer buying a PS3 or Xbox Elite for that price… a much better gaming experience.

On the other hand Android phone that can support all the games starts at as low as Rs. 13000. I am not considered Samsung Galaxy 5 because it can’t run all the games.

So… in my ratings, a product has to be perfect if it wants to get recommended to readers of GizJets. So, I would say Android OS is perfect for gamers who need all-rounder.

And those who can spend money like dirt, buy a PSP phone instead… till then you can go for WP7 OS operated handsets. I am assuming that if you belong to that class, it would be discarded till PSP phone hits the market.

The Final Verdict

Both of the operating systems for mobile phone devices have their own pros and cons, it depends actually. Android is an all-rounder and is available for cheap while Windows Phone 7 is royal and comes with high-end phone only.

For me, I am sensible enough, not to buy something I won’t really use but this was my view on the best operating to play video game on mobile phone.

Do you do gaming on mobile phone? Which operating system are you currently working with or do you want to upgrade to some other OS? Please do share your feeling with a growing number of GizJets Readers… at the moments we have 800 Readers/day so… your comments makes a difference.

Um… before commenting, you should read the date of the article, when WP7 OS was launched, there weren’t any HQ game for Android but now it has Asphalt, GOW etc. Now, Android is a good enough OS for gaming as well.
