Samsung Mobile Phone OS – Bada OS Turns One Year Old

Samsung had released a new operating system for its future beyond smartphone series termed ‘Bada OS’, although the name sounded very peculiar and had no relevance with the technology world, still it had made a mark.

The first device to use it was Samsung Wave S8500 followed by many in the Wave Series including the Samsung Wave II.

Samsung Mobile is celebrating the birthday of their OS today, Bada OS has been a successful venture since Wave sold more than a million pieces in less than a year.

Samsung had also come up with a developer challenge for creating a web application store for their operating system which has so far come out very good, their app store is offering premium titles like Asphalt, NFS, Zombie Infection, Brother in Arms and many more.

In total, developer were awarded prize money of more than $2.7 million to supplement application onto the portal. By the end of this year, Samsung mobile is adamant to raise sale count of Bada operated handsets to 5 million units, which is possible.

Which Application for Bada OS Attracted Most?

There were many good application developers participating for this event, more than 2077 application were submitted and only 37 were awarded with prize money.

Little Sailor (a 3D yacht racing game) was awarded with the top position and secured $300,000 to its coders. Other games like badaSports, Doogie, Bang, WAMO_Camera, TouchRetouch, Bling-Bling Reader and Parking earned $100,000 each.

Future Prospects of Bada OS and Samsung Mobile

Samsung Mobile would be benefiting from the money spent in the longer run since they have introduced a wide range of Bada OS products starting from just Rs. 7500.

More and more consumer would be attracted to this series, first because their hardware is very good, two they are comparatively cheap and three they have a dedicated application store.

Although, it would still face fierce competition from Android OS, yet it won’t be much difficult for it get into top 5 mobile phone OS.

    Happy Birthday Bada! It’s a revolutionary mobile OS. Yet they have to compete against huge competitors like Android and iOS.

      Bada OS is definitely a great OS but yeah! Android and iOS are way ahead of it in terms of both popularity and applications.

      It is not available in Indian markets currently, possibly it has been stopped to ship in India.

      Try on some online shopping network, maybe you can get them there.
