More than 4.5 billion Android Apps downloaded from Android Market so far
Android is on a roll right now, it is treading the path of success and adding new achievements to its pack regularly. Recently, the number of apps downloaded on Android Market crossed 4.5 billion mark which is a great news for application and game developers who have chosen Android SDK platform.
Last year, around this time only, the number on Android Market was just above 1 billion which suggests that more than 3 billion application and games have been downloaded from Android Market in last one year. In fact, the last billion came in mere two months, Android Market is definitely heating up, it is a great motivation for developers to create more and better apps for Android.
If we talk about application stores then we can’t ignore the pioneer of it i.e. Apple. Apple Store is a on a big time success too as their download count crossed 10 billion mark early in January this year. I covered this story and you can read it [here].
Apple Store and Android Market both have several great apps and games from major gaming titles to very useful social networking apps, whoever may win what difference does it make for the user, since both the platforms have tremendous apps, it is safe to say whether you buy an iPhone or an Android, you won’t regret making that decision.

Would Android be able to Surpass the dominance of Apple Store in the app world?
Well, it is not certain, I think both have their target audience but since more than 16000 new Android phones are sold everyday, Android stands quite a chance to overtake Apple in future.
