I guess Google’s Android operating system, yeah, that green robot is on a mission of “World domination.” It recently thrashed iOS out of Chinese markets, and doubled its own market share. By the end of 2011, Android accounted for a whopping 68.4% of all the Smartphones while iOS accounted for a mere 5.7% of the market share. It’s interesting that Symbian, an operating system which is losing its grip from major markets in the world is doing pretty well in China; it accounts from 18.7% of China’s market share.
Android offers a lot of flexibility, it can be installed on devices with a wide range of hardware config, maybe that’s why almost all the cell phone manufacturers (apart from Apple) are choosing Android for its Smartphones.
There’s quite an interesting story behind Apple’s iPhone not doing so well in Chinese markets which also quite relevant to Indian markets. Apple iPhone 4S, though has a pretty awesome hardware, isn’t very different from iPhone 4, in terms of looks and operating system and thus isn’t worth upgrading to.
Well, do you think it is sensible to upgrade from Apple iPhone 4 to iPhone 4S?
